More than one line of thought.
Keep one conversation open while you start another. Split your chat to the right or below, and give each task room without losing sight of the work beside it.

Set a goal Explore ReviewCheshi is a macOS workspace for OpenAI Codex, bringing AI conversations and agents together with your project. It brings Codex conversations, a code editor, CodeGraph, GitHub, a Ghostty-powered terminal, and Apple Notes into one place. Keep the tools and context for your work close together, with fewer trips between windows. Cheshi is currently available as a developer preview.
Install through Homebrew. If you already have Homebrew, run brew install --cask cheshiai/tap/cheshi in Terminal, then open Cheshi from Applications. The current packaged release requires Apple Silicon and macOS Tahoe 26 or later. You can copy the command from either installation panel on this page; each panel also links to Homebrew setup if you need it.
Yes. Split a conversation area to the right or below and keep multiple chats visible in the same workspace. Use one for implementation and another for a question or a second approach. Flexible pane layouts let you keep the conversation you need in view while giving a new task its own space.
Search your workspace’s chat history to find past messages and return to the original conversation. Instead of starting an explanation again, look up an earlier decision, a useful answer, or a piece of work you want to revisit. Open the matching message to read it in context, then continue with a follow-up.
Orchestration helps organize work around distinct agent roles, such as implementation, review, and verification. A reviewer can examine a change from a different perspective while another role focuses on building it or checking the result. It gives a larger task a clearer division of work while keeping those roles connected to the same project.
Read and edit project files without leaving the workspace. Code completions help while you type, quick fixes support small corrections, and local history helps you revisit earlier file states. Use ⌘⇧F to find a file and move to the next part of the project while keeping your chats and terminal nearby.
CodeGraph makes relationships in your code visible. Start with a symbol, explore its callers and dependencies, and follow connected parts of the project before deciding where to make a change. Search and graph controls help you narrow the view. You can also check indexing status in the workspace to see the state of the project’s index.
Cheshi’s terminal is powered by Ghostty, bringing a fast, lightweight terminal experience into the Mac workspace. Split it into panes for a development server, tests, and everyday shell commands, then resize the layout around your work. Keep command output alongside your code and conversations instead of repeatedly switching to a separate terminal window.
Follow a change from an issue through to a pull request. Browse issues, create a branch, inspect file changes, commit, and push from the workspace. You can also open pull requests, review their changes, and add PR comments. Keeping these steps together makes it easier to move between the code, its review, and the discussion around it.
Yes. Apple Notes integration is available now. Find a note from within Cheshi, edit it in the workspace, and see the saved update in Apple Notes. You can also attach a note to a chat, bringing a project brief, a checklist, or your working notes into the conversation without retyping them.
Mail and Calendar integrations are planned and are not available yet. Apple Notes is the macOS integration you can use today. Planned connections are labeled Coming soon on this page so you can distinguish current features from what is still ahead. Check the changelog for updates as new capabilities become available.
Use temporary side chat for a quick question that does not need to become part of your main conversation. It stays out of the workspace’s chat history, so a short detour does not add another saved session. Keep longer project discussions in your regular chats, where you can find them again with history search.
Caffeine mode keeps your Mac awake while it is enabled, helping you stay with longer-running work. Toggle it from the workspace control; a toast confirms the change. Turn it off when you are finished to return to normal sleep behavior. It is a convenient workspace control for those times when you want your Mac to stay awake.
Skills provide reusable instructions for work you repeat, while plugins connect additional tools and capabilities. They let you shape the workspace around your project and your preferred way of working. Alongside agent roles, they help you give recurring tasks a consistent approach instead of explaining the same workflow from the beginning each time.
The 85-second overview brings all eight workflows together. The individual feature videos walk through chat splitting, history search, editing, CodeGraph, Apple Notes, the Ghostty terminal, GitHub, and workspace essentials such as accounts, temporary chat, and caffeine mode. They recreate the app interface using fictional projects, accounts, and conversations. Each feature links to its own demo page for a closer look. Details may vary by app version.
